Founded in 1998, Goga Publishing has established itself as a premier publisher of literary fiction, renowned for its unwavering commitment to editorial excellence. Over the years, Goga has earned the trust and respect of authors and readers alike. While its catalog primarily features contemporary novels (both Slovene and translated works), Goga also publishes poetry, short prose, and essays. Many of Slovenia’s most esteemed, awarded, and widely translated writers are proud to call Goga their publisher.

 

International Collaboration

Goga Publishing is dedicated to cultivating a robust international presence. As both a leader and partner in numerous European projects, Goga is actively involved in initiatives such as Reading Balkans (focused on networking and mobility in the Balkans) and Cela (dedicated to talent development for emerging authors). The publishing house boasts an extensive network of international collaborators, including publishers, translators, authors, editors, writers’ residencies, and cultural organizations. Goga is always open to forming new partnerships and welcomes proposals for specific collaborative projects.

 

Bookstore, Writers’ Residence, and Other Initiatives

Beyond publishing, Goga is deeply engaged in promoting literary culture. Since 2000, Goga has operated a bookstore, featuring an outdoor terrace on the Central Square since 2012, providing a welcoming space for book lovers. The literary residence, established in 2008, offers a haven for writers to create and collaborate. Goga also organizes various literary events and cultural festivals, and proudly presents the Maruša Krese award for the best collection of short stories, the only accolade of its kind in Slovenia.
